Change, end or delete a pattern

Change it from today, end it on a last day, delete it, or change just one day.

Open Patterns and tap a pattern. Its page shows the cycle with today marked, and the three things you can do to it. Each one tells you how many shifts it will move before it moves any.

Change it

  1. Tap Change it

    The same screen you set it up on, starting from the pattern as it is.

  2. Make your changes

    Rename it, repaint days, change the length or where today falls.

  3. Tap Check what this will do

    For example From today: 52 removed. or Nothing on your calendar changes.

  4. Tap Save changes

  • Changes apply from today. Days already past stay exactly as they were.
  • Days you changed or deleted yourself on the calendar stay as you left them.
  • If a day used a shift type that has since been archived, or has no set hours, it shows as a day off, and the screen says so.
  • A rota that has ended can still be renamed, but changing it changes nothing on your calendar.

End it

For a rota that stops — a new job, a new rota. Everything up to the last day stays.

  1. Under End this rota, set Last day on this rota and tap Check

    It says what will happen, for example Ends on … 205 shifts after it will come off your calendar.

  2. Tap End the rota

    The pattern’s page then shows when it ends, or that it has ended.

Days after the last day that you changed yourself stay on your calendar.

Delete it

  1. Under Delete this pattern, tap Delete…

    It says how many upcoming shifts will come off your calendar. Keep it backs out.

  2. Tap Delete the pattern

    Shifts before today stay — they are your history.

Change one day only

To swap a shift or take a day off, change it on the calendar, not in the pattern. Open the day and edit or delete the shift as usual — see edit a shift. The pattern leaves that day alone from then on.

  • An edited pattern day says You changed this pattern day. Tap Reset to your pattern to go back.
  • A deleted pattern day says your pattern has a shift there and you removed it. Tap Put it back to bring it back.
  • Straight after a delete, Undo brings the shift back exactly as it was, note and all.

Two patterns at once

You can have more than one pattern running. If two cover the same dates, the pattern’s page warns you — This runs at the same time as …, so both put shifts on the same days. A pattern does not check shifts you added by hand, so it can put a second shift on a day you already filled.
