Your first ten minutes

One question about your rota, your shift types, and your first shift.

A new account opens on Today with Welcome to Clock Shift. and a short Getting started list. Its first step asks How does your rota work? — your answer decides where to start. The steps tick themselves off as you go.

  1. Answer How does your rota work?

The same every week or It repeats every few days sets up a pattern, and makes any shift types it needs. It changes every time takes you to the calendar to add shifts as you get them. How patterns work.
  2. Make your shift types match your workplace

Open Shift types and tap Edit on any type to change its name, code, colour and usual hours. The usual hours are what fill the form when you pick the type. With no types yet, you are offered a starter set — Early, Day, Late, Night, Off, Annual leave and Sick — all ticked: untick what you do not use and tap Create N shift types, or Skip — I’ll make my own. More on shift types.
  3. Add a shift

Open Calendar, tap a day, pick a shift type, check the times and tap Add shift. Step by step.
  4. Go back to Today

It now shows what you are on or what is next, a countdown, the next seven days and your hours this week.
